ne Parson’s OpinionMay I ask you to do something for me? No, I am not asking you to give me something—Mark, Danny and Josh do that stuff! But I am asking you to give. I am asking you to give something to the policemen, firemen and EMTs who serve us throughout the year. I am asking for you to pray for them during the upcoming Democratic National Convention.

There is the distinct possibility that these men and women will be in harm’s way. There are anarchists who want to disrupt the convention’s process. The police are charged with not allowing this to happen. At the very least, they will be in very stressful situations. Pray for their safety.

Will you also pray for those of us who will be working downtown? Ask God to give us grace to be able to minister to these folks who protect us throughout the year.

About 30 members of ARBC will be assembling 600 sandwiches a day, and several will be serving food in safe hotel rooms downtown, providing a place for the officers to “decompress.” Ask God to use us to be Jesus' hands and feet during these days.

The people of God have an opportunity to minister to some very important people the week of the DNC. I hope you will not see the DNC coming to Denver as a burden, but as a providential opportunity to put into practice what we say we believe.

Follow Our Mission Team to Ketchikan, Alaska
06.17.2008

A member of our ARBC Mission team will be using text messaging from a cell phone to journal their mission trip to North Tongass Baptist Church. The short text messages will be updated on a web page so you can stay connected to them during the week while they are in Ketchikan, Alaska.

Because this is fairly new technology, please visit this site first: http://myarbc.blogspot.com/ - if you have problems, please select this site - http://www.arbc.net/alaska2008twitter.html

Please visit their journal frequently and continue to pray for their safety and effectiveness, that the people there will be truly encouraged and lives will be changed, but mostly that God's name will be glorified.

2008 Missions Plans
12.19.2007

This past year, in order to best respond to the mission opportunities God put before us, the ARBC Mission Team organized into International, North American and State/Local subteams. Because of some International Mission Board shuffling, we did not make an international trip in 2007 but did undertake mission trips to Alaska and to Stratton, Colorado, and we participated in several local mission activities, such as the Champa House and the Russian/ESL program.

For this year, our plans are to continue with the International and North American teams. We are planning to take mission trips to both Hungary and Alaska this year. The team leaders will have more details soon and will be communicating about how you can be involved.

North to Alaska
08.17.2007

A team of 13 from Arapahoe Road Baptist Church traveled to Ketchikan, Alaska, to serve the small congregation of North Tongas Baptist Church in a variety of projects the first week of June.
Projects included construction on the exterior of the church, landscaping, clean-up of the church grounds, and assembly of 2500 small baggies consisting of tracts and candy to be handed out from their float at the annual 4th of July parade. In addition, Bob Wells was able to witness to a non-believer at the Wednesday night prayer meeting. The team also served as prayer warriors and encouragers for this small band of believers.

Prayers for Hungary Trip
06.01.2004

Dear ARBC Prayer Partners,

As we minister in Hungary, here are some prayers for us that:

  • We would walk in the Spirit and not operate in the flesh! We would walk by faith and not by sight!
  • We would be sensitive to the Spirit leading whether it is in a witnessing opportunity, discussion group or other activity.
  • We would not panic or become anxious when circumstances arise that might seem to undermine our work efforts.
  • We would be people of prayer! We would seek the Lord through the day and pray without ceasing in all situations for all that we encounter.
  • We would be willing to endure misunderstanding, ridicule and personal embarrassment to tell others about Jesus.

Thanks for all your prayers for us,
Your Hungarian Mission Team

An Open Letter from the Hungarian Mission Team
06.01.2004

Dear ARBC fellow partners in the Gospel,

“But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal process, and through us spread the fragrance of the knowledge of Him everywhere” (2 Corinthians 2:14). As we were commissioned by you, the members of ARBC, we could not stop giving thanks to God for the work he has done through you. Your giving has been humbling and exhilarating. Through the special 24 hours of prayer and all the other prayers, we feel lifted up. Your contributions for our ministry projects and gifts for the Brown family are very appreciated. The apostle Paul related how Jesus told him, “I am sending you to open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and fro the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me” (Acts 26:17-18). We are going to a dark place. Ron Brown has told us that only 1% of the Hungarians are Christians. We are being sent by Jesus and by you. We are grateful.

Your Hungarian Mission Team,
Jay & Dianne Moyers, Jacob Myers, Lee O’Briant, Ben Perkins, Elizabeth Perkins, Wayne & Kathy Peterson, Wil & Melissa Powell.
