Got Work? We’ve Got Workers!

Got a yard that still needs to be raked? Snow to be shoveled? A lawn to be mowed (in the summertime)? A garage to be cleaned out? A house to be organized? Need a babysitter? Need a dog sitter or ANYTHING else you can think of? If you’ve got work, we’ve got workers! On the third Sunday of every month we will have a table set up in the foyer for you to come get your workers. A group of youth will be at the table. Tell us the job, how much you will pay for the job, and then arrange the details with your worker right there at the table! All money will go towards the students’ accounts for the Guatemala Mission trip, and/or Centrifuge! Thank you for your support, and don’t forget to come by the table on February 21st! If you have any questions let me know. Thanks!

In Christ,
Josh Robertson

January 2010

Are you ready? I mean, have you truly asked God to send you just one person this year that is ready to receive the Gospel and to begin a relationship with Jesus Christ? If you have, that is great! Let me encourage you to continue to pray that way and if you’ve not already started then let me encourage you to begin with that prayer ~ “Lord send me one person who is ready to receive the Gospel.” So, are you ready to share your faith, to be a faithful witness?

If you have asked or will ask the Lord to send you one person, will you be prepared to share the Gospel? A great starting point is to prepare your heart and strengthen your relationship with the Lord. One of the tools that will help you do that is the upcoming discipleship training class called Downpour.

Hosea 6:1 "Come, let us return to the LORD. For He has torn us, but He will heal us; He has wounded us, but He will bandage us.”

Did you notice how that verse begins? It begins with the word, “Come,” and that is your invitation to return to the Lord. The invitation is for every follower of the Lord. Is this verse speaking to you? It should, simply because it’s God’s word. Come, let’s return together…

I guarantee that if you join this discipleship class and honestly and earnestly apply the teachings to your life, it will do more for your personal walk with the Lord than ANY other teaching available today. If you want to kick-start your heart, this is your class. If you have been feeling a little dull with the church or your spiritual life, this is the one that will revive you like a breath of fresh air and cool cup of water; this is what you want. Class begins on Sunday January 10, from 5—6 p.m.

There is more Discipleship training too. The ladies classes with be studying the life of David with a class called Anointed, Transformed, Redeemed. Classes begin on Monday evening, January 11, and Tuesday morning, January 12.

But wait—that’s not all! We are also going to have another session of the Crown Financial Ministries class. An introductory class will be held in February; the first actual session will be in March. Also coming in March, watch for the Share Your Faith training developed by Evangelism Explosion. I’m coordinating that training now, so be watching for it, probably in March. We will also offer some training to become ministry partners with the Evangelism Response Center.

You have many choices to help you in your spiritual growth. I pray you’ll take advantage of these opportunities (don’t worry if there is more than one class you would like to take but can only take one right now. If there is enough interest we can offer the class again in the near future).

Remember, we’re all in this together and I’m pulling for ya, Bro. Danny

ne Parson’s Opinion

It is no secret that we are way below budget as we end the year. Even the “actuals” (which is what we are actually spending) are running in the negative. We have had to go into our savings and presently have a surplus of about $95,000.

If our present rate of income and expenses continues, this will take us late into next year before we are unable to meet expenses.

Now, before panic strikes you and you faint, let me remind you of a few facts.

  1. God has not abdicated His throne and He is, therefore, up to something through the financial shortfall.
  2. The economy is playing havoc with ARBC’s income as well as with all Southern Baptist Convention entities. The International Mission Board, the North American Mission Board and the Colorado Baptist General Convention are all having to make serious budget cuts.
  3. When I became your pastor a little over six years ago, the income was very low. I struggled with the question of whether the Perkins could make it financially at ARBC.
  4. God proved faithful once again to ARBC and to the Perkins family. We came, and the Lord took care of us through you. He has brought in a host of new people, many of whom are tithers.
  5. God meets the needs of the Kingdom through His people.
  6. ARBC has many wonderful, faithful tithers (Jesus knows you by name and told me to tell you He is proud of you).

So, pulling all of these facts together, what do I conclude?

My conclusion is that God is at work in the financial shortfall at ARBC. Now, I do not know exactly what He is doing. But He is doing something.

One possibility is that He is driving us back to Himself. You see, our tendency as individuals is to think we are self-sufficient. Churches can feel they are self-sufficient, too.

Individuals and churches must be dependent on God to be used by God. He will not share His glory with anyone or anything. So, a church which He uses must be brought to dependence upon Him.

Just a thought!

If you are a tither—thank you! If you are a giver who is moving toward tithing—thank you! If you are not giving, I encourage you to be obedient to God and get in on the work of the Kingdom. You will be blessed in more ways that you can know.

See you on the Lord’s Day!

Jim

God Speaking - A Christmas Musical
12.01.2009

It's probably safe to say that Christmas is everyone's favorite time of the year, but it's also the time of year when life moves faster, stress is greater, and the chaos of the season can easily drown out the voice of the Prince of Peace. It is this time of year, more than any other, that we need to stop and hear God Speaking.

God Speaking reminds us that, from the very beginning of time, all our failures and fears were on the heart of God as He sent His only Son to bring us hope and the confidence necessary to live life to the fullest.

Join us on December 13 at the morning service - 10:35AM, as together we pause for these few moments to listen to the voice of God Speaking.
