February 2009
01.23.2009

The beginning of Ecclesiastes 9:10 says, “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might.” This verse is all about serving the Lord. Serving or not serving the Lord is a choice that each person makes. When you decide, “My life is not going to be about myself. I’m not going to be a part of the problem; I want to be a part of the solution. I know what God’s will is, God wants me to become a servant – He wants me to serve,” then you begin to get a glimpse of what the Christian life is all about.

The deeper significance of being a Christian will elude you until you decide that you are going to roll up your sleeves and begin serving. Every week there are responsibilities in God’s kingdom, and it takes each member to serve in order for church life and ministries to function the way God intended.

InChWesta - February 2009
01.23.2009

Once a month, beginning in February, the Youth will have “Servive” - a combination of serving and Friday Night Live activities. On these nights, we will begin with a group of students doing service projects (sometimes at the church, sometimes outside, at the Denver Rescue Mission, for instance). After serving, we will have a Friday Night Live event at the church to which students will be encouraged to invite their friends as we participate in a variety of games, fun and food! If you need more information, see me. Thanks!

In Christ,
Josh

ne Parson’s Opinion

I have just finished reviewing the Wednesday study on Integrity out of Proverbs. Integrity is to be a quality of every Christian. Pagans are still surprised by someone who claims to be a Christian and yet is not a person of integrity.

I remember seeing Warren Buffet on TV (the United States’ richest man) speaking to an MBA class at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He said the number one characteristic that employers are looking for is integrity. He followed this up by asking, “If you knew a fellow student cheated on a test, would you hire him?” Of course, the answer given by the students was “no.”

So let me ask you - How are you doing with your personal integrity? Are you known as a person of integrity? Do you maintain your integrity even when others do not understand? Integrity sometimes means standing alone, and sometimes not telling all you know.

Integrity means telling the truth and living the truth. Integrity means letting your “yes” be “yes” and your “no” be “no.”
