January 2009
12.26.2008

Welcome to 2009! I hope you had a Christ-filled Christmas, but the holidays are over, and it’s time to roll up our sleeves and focus on a new year. It is my prayer that you will seek God’s will during this year.

I want to take this moment to let you know about some special training and events on the year’s horizon. First, there is a special discipleship class called “The Body Life Journey.” This study will assist you in discovering who you are in Christ by discovering your:

  • Experiences: those unique, significant events God allows, which mold you into who you are.
  • Relational Style: behavioral traits God uses in how you relate to others.
  • Vocational skills: those abilities you have gained through training and experience you can use in service to God.
  • Enthusiasm: that passion God puts in your heart for certain ministry areas.

InChWesta - January 2009
12.26.2008

InChWeSta’s second annual winter retreat, “ICE BOUND” is going to be Friday through Sunday, January 16—18, at Ponderosa Retreat & Conference Center.

I am very excited to see what God is going to do on this retreat; it is a weekend full of crazy games, fun with friends, not a lot of sleep, but most importantly, a message that can change lives.

My former youth pastor and now close friend, Jim Johnson, will be our speaker for the weekend. He is an excellent communicator with youth, and more importantly, he is passionately in love with Jesus Christ, with being a spokesperson for Christ and seeing lives of students changed!

ne Parson’s Opinion

Reading an article recently, I was confronted with a question. It is such an intriguing question that I want to share it with you: Do you trust the Lord? I mean really, do you? Nobody is watching as you answer. Oh well, I guess God is, isn’t He?! But let’s don’t go there...

Dare we be honest? I know we are supposed to trust the Lord. I mean, He saved us from hell, and we are Christians, and we are supposed to say we trust Him.

But do we really?!

Let’s lay it on the line. Do we trust Him with our jobs, our futures, our finances, our health, our kids, our parents, the new president, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, the economy and more besides?

Do we really trust Him? You say, “Well, maybe I don’t really! It’s more like I close my eyes and hope and try not to think about it too much!”
