Women's Winter Bible Study
01.08.2007

“Living Beyond Yourself”
by Beth Moore

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law. – Galatians 5:22-23

The study will begin on Monday, January 8, at 7:00 p.m.

It’s a powerful resource that will equip believers to come to know the freedom of a life filled with peace, joy, gentleness, and other positive characteristics (Gal. 5:22-23). By encouraging participants to develop and maintain an intimate relationship with the Spirit of God, this study will help them to nurture and cultivate the fruit of the Spirit in their daily lives. (11 sessions)

Welcome Josh Robertson
01.08.2007

My name is Josh Robertson, and I just wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I am the new Interim Youth Pastor here at ARBC. I am very excited about the opportunity that God has given my wife and I to be able to work with the youth. It has been a pleasure to begin to meet everyone at ARBC.

My wife Heidi and I have been married for a year and a half; both of us grew up in the great state of Minnesota (go Vikings!) Contrary to popular thought, it is not a sin to cheer for a football team other than the Broncos. Heidi and I moved out to Denver at the end of August so that I could begin attending Denver Seminary. I am pursuing a Masters of Divinity degree with an emphasis in Pastoral Counseling. Heidi is extremely busy as she is a nanny for a family of four boys, the youngest 4 months, the oldest 13! Heidi and I have loved our time in Colorado so far, especially the mountain biking!

In working with the youth group it is my goal to bring all aspects of life together. I think it is important for the youth to be able to participate in a wide-range of events anywhere from Bible studies to Paint Ball and everything in between. It is my prayer that through these activities the youth group will be united together glorifying God in everything we do. Also, I wanted to let you know that the youth group has decided on a name; it is InChwesta, which means, In Christ we Stand.

My ultimate prayer for the youth is that in some way their involvement with the youth group will draw them closer and closer to their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It is my desire that they grow close to Christ and as a result that they will share their faith with all those who God brings into their lives. I hope that you will join us in prayer for the students that God has blessed us with. We look forward to meeting all of you as we strive together to glorify God in all that we do.

In Christ,
Josh Robertson

ne Parson’s Opinion

2007 is here! Happy New Year! Where did 2006 go? The year has flown by! It seems only yesterday it was January 2006. 2006 is now history.

You have heard similar words about how fast time seems to go by. In fact, you have probably commented yourself about how fast the days disappear.

“Tempus fugit!” (translation “time flies!”) is indeed true!

Time is an interesting thing for Christians to ponder. We are going to live forever, so we have a different perspective on the pressure to get things done. However, we do want to make 2007 count. We do want to glorify God in 2007. So, what is important to Christians? What ought we focus on doing in 2007 to make the year count?

We do have to do our jobs, because we have to provide for our families and most of us have gotten very used to eating regularly! And the creation mandate to go out and subdue our world still holds.

But Christians ought to focus on more than “tasks” which in the light of eternity disappear.

So, what do we focus on? We focus on the things that are eternal. Well, what are those things? God, people and we ourselves are eternal. So, in light of making 2007 matter for eternity we need to invest our days in developing our relationships with the Lord, with others and developing our own character.
