Charles Schultz Philosophy

The following is the philosophy of Charles Schultz, the creator of the “Peanuts” comic strip. You don’t have to actually answer the questions. Just read straight through, and you’ll get the point.

1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world.

2. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners.

3. Name the last five winners of the Miss America.

4. Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize.

5. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winner for best actor and actress.

6. Name the last decade’s worth of World Series winners.

How did you do?

The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday.

These are not second-rate achievers. They are the best in their fields. But the applause dies. Awards tarnish. Achievements are forgotten. Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners.

ne Parson’s Opinion

I was coming down the hill; I can see the picture in my minds eye now. I was not thinking about much of anything, and there came this overwhelming sense that I was loved by the Lord. “Was it the ‘meatloaf’ the night before or was it the Lord?” Sometimes it is hard to tell, but I knew it was the Lord. After all why would Satan tell me Jesus loves me?

You may be reading this and wondering if anyone cares about you. To you, it doesn’t seem anyone does. Your relatives don’t call. Friends don’t regularly call or drop by. The circumstances have not been so great lately. You wonder and maybe you have even wondered out loud, “Does the Lord really love me or even care if I’m alive?” After all you reason God does have a universe to run and He has His hands full with George Bush and the new Pope. He certainly doesn’t care about me. I’ll bet He doesn’t even know I exist, much less love me.

Student Ministry – November 2005

Unfortunately for many of you by the time you read this I will still be alive. However, let’s not focus on the negatives. There are many good things going on in the youth ministry despite the fact that I am heavily involved. We are well into our study on the book of Revelation which is an especially exciting book to study for young people.

10) Cut the staff members’ ridiculously high salaries

9) Charge admission for communion

8) Put plastic flamingoes in peoples’ yards and then provide insurance . . . wait a minute.

7) Send a hundred dollars on faith to Benny Hinn, then sit back and wait for the big return

6) Get Gene to get on J.T.’s computer when she’s not looking and move some decimal points around.

5) Kidnap soloists and force Mark to pay ransom

4) Sell indulgences

3) Have a selection of domestic spirits on tap at Wednesday night meals

2) Conveniently find a finger in our chili at Wendy’s

1) Prayerfully play the lottery.
