Holy Week Services - 2009
03.26.2009

During the week before Easter (Resurrection Sunday) we will relive the experiences of Jesus over the last few days before his crucifixion. We encourage you to read Matthew 26, Mark 11 -14 to refresh your memory of what Jesus experienced. Our Holy Week services will be:

Palm Sunday, April 5, 10:35 AM - Just five days before he was crucified, Jesus was publicly welcomed into Jerusalem and the temple. People hailed him as king of the Jews.

Wednesday (Tenebrae Service), April 8, 6:15 PM - we will have our service of darkness that symbolizes the coming sacrifice of our Lord. Candles will be extinguished as the service progresses to symbolize the coming sacrifice of our Lord.

Thursday (Lord’s Supper Service), April 9, 7:00 PM - Maundy Thursday - the night before Jesus was betrayed; he gathered all of his disciples together for dinner. Because he loved all them and wanted to continue teaching them about God's perspective on their lives, he initiated a very humble form of service to them by washing their feet. This evening we will gather to worship Jesus Christ through the observance of the Lord's Supper by sharing scriptures and prayers about the meaning of the elements: the bread - broken body - and the juice of the vine - blood.

Good Friday, April 10, 7:00 PM - On Friday, Jesus was betrayed by Judas, publicly tried and crucified and died a very painful death, in accordance with the eternal design by our heavenly Father. He died not for what he had done, rather what all others had done, both past, present and even we have done after his suffering. We will celebrate by singing some of the old hymns of the faith followed by a message centering on the death of Christ.

Easter Sunday (Resurrection Sunday), April 12, 10:35 AM - We will continue the celebration of joy of the physical resurrection of our Lord. We will offer praise and thanksgiving to our Father who gave his Son so that we might live eternally with Him.

Please join us at each of these services so that you too will have the benefit of identifying with Jesus' experiences during this very important week in his life. You will be able to identify with the rejection and pain that he felt. We will celebrate the joy of the physical resurrection of our Lord.
