ne Parson’s Opinion

There are some wonderful opportunities coming up for getting to know the Lord and understanding His ways a little better.
Henry Blackaby will be speaking at the Colorado Baptists Evangelism Conference, April 28-29. Then, April 30, we’ll begin our Spring Bible Conference at ARBC. Paul Burleson will again be with us to teach God’s Word Sunday through Wednesday (April 30-May 3).

I am working on getting someone from “Answers from Genesis” to be our speaker for our Thanksgiving Celebration in the fall. (This is Ken Ham’s organization, but we can’t get Ken, I asked.) I have late-breaking news, just off the wire! We will have John Hall and Carolyn Reed (from MEF) presenting a concert for us on Colorado Day, June 25. This will be followed by a hamburger and hot dog fellowship.
Ok, Jim, why should I try to attend these events? I am busy. I have work demands, family demands, PTA demands and on and on it goes.
I do hear you. I do know life is fast paced. You have many responsibilities.
My response is that your soul needs first attention. The present and the future are extremely uncertain. You need to be able to discern God’s voice and His ways. Do not assume life will continue on with “business as usual.”
Second, I would say these opportunities may not come around again. It is important to make the most of the opportunities we have “today” for they may not be here “tomorrow.”
A very popular saying in our culture is “Someday I’ll get around to it.”
I have a “round to it.” It is a round wooden coin with the words “to it” on the coin. We mean well. We do want to learn about the Lord and His ways. But we falsely believe things will stay as they are forever. They won’t! Therefore, it is important each day to take advantage of the opportunities available that the Lord provides to grow our souls.

See you on the Lord’s Day,

Jim
