ne Parson’s Opinion

I was coming down the hill; I can see the picture in my minds eye now. I was not thinking about much of anything, and there came this overwhelming sense that I was loved by the Lord. “Was it the ‘meatloaf’ the night before or was it the Lord?” Sometimes it is hard to tell, but I knew it was the Lord. After all why would Satan tell me Jesus loves me?

You may be reading this and wondering if anyone cares about you. To you, it doesn’t seem anyone does. Your relatives don’t call. Friends don’t regularly call or drop by. The circumstances have not been so great lately. You wonder and maybe you have even wondered out loud, “Does the Lord really love me or even care if I’m alive?” After all you reason God does have a universe to run and He has His hands full with George Bush and the new Pope. He certainly doesn’t care about me. I’ll bet He doesn’t even know I exist, much less love me.

Reality needs to be informed, not by one’s thinking, or pondering or even one’s feelings. Reality is what the Word of God declares it to be. Here is reality when it comes to being loved. The Bible tells me so.

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life”.

Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Ephesians 2:4,5 “But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgression – it is by grace you have been saved.”

1 John 3:1 “How great is the love the Father lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!” And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know Him. (We become God’s child when we receive Jesus as our own personal Lord and Savior)

If you think you are not loved, think again.

Just a thought! Maybe you have been recently disappointed with people or even with God. Go before Him and weep. He is someone to whom you can tell all of your dark secrets and fears. Remember, He knows you, understands you, cares for you and really does love you.

See you on the Lord’s Day,

Jim
