Student Ministry - October 2005
10.02.2005

Let me use this opportunity to bring you up to date on what is happening in the youth group. We spent most of the summer studying Christology. We had five lessons each on the person of Christ and the work of Christ. We are just beginning a teaching series on the book of Revelation. We are splitting up between junior high and high school on Sunday mornings and Candy, Theresa Martens, John Declet, and I are rotating teaching the junior high. Please pray for these teachers as they undertake this responsibility. The Youth group is looking at going either to Chicago or San Diego for M-Fuge next year and we are looking forward to the many ministry opportunities we have during the holidays like Operation Christmas Child and Sharing and Caring. Also, because I am new to this area I am having some trouble finding places that will allow us to do Servanthood Evangelism. I am confident God will open up some doors but it is taking longer than I had anticipated. I have put several calls in to various places and am waiting to hear back from them. I would really appreciate your prayers in this regard. I believe this is an important thing for the youth to be involved in.

Another area of need is the fifth and sixth grade Sunday School class. If you, or someone you know, would be interested in teaching this class, please contact me. Also, John Declet has formed a basketball team comprised of several members of our church. I am really excited about that because it’s going to give me a chance to get to know a few members of my church family. I really enjoy spending time with Christians away from church. That’s not to say that I don’t enjoy fellowshipping at church but as a minister I usually am so focused on my duties that it can make it difficult to really engage people during organized church times. So, for that reason, I really cherish times where I can focus only on gorging and nurturing relationships.
