Student Ministry - August 2005

M-Fuge was great! I can’t believe I made it through the week without being pranked, although the morning I woke up inside my duffel bag on a bus to Memphis may have been an exception. Kevin told me it was a bizarre accident but I’m starting to wonder. That experience aside, the trip was a lot of fun.

It was encouraging to see the seriousness of many of the youth about spiritual matters as well. I remember during one evening service, I looked down the aisle and almost all of the youth were taking notes on the message. Usually, the groups I take are passing notes instead of taking them or drawing doodles. It made me feel a little ashamed of the Batman sketch I was working on. Our cabin devotional times each night were also edifying. I was ministered to by the enthusiasm and maturity with which many of the students approached and talked about the mission projects they were working on. They worked on everything from building houses to doing puppet shows.

The most rewarding aspect of camp to me is the acceleration that God causes to happen in the relationships. It was an absolute blast goofing around with the students and talking to them about their lives and their relationships with the Lord. I was able to develop a sincere care and compassion for the group that will fuel everything I do with regard to them. I am confident in the Lord that their lives will glorify Him. Please pray that the youth will fall more deeply in love with Christ and that a passion for Him and His beauty would spark and motivate all of their service. Pray that they would live their lives before His face and radically impact their spheres of influence for His kingdom.
