I do not think that my family arriving here in Colorado on the same week in which Star Wars Episode III premiered is a coincidence. While I am fully aware that many of you are more excited about seeing Star Wars than you are about my family’s arrival, (and I totally understand, by the way), I think these two events are related. I think that God, in His Sovereignty, willed for my family to arrive the week that Star Wars released so that I could tell you this: I am a huge Star Wars fan and I have been looking forward to seeing the third episode for years, but I am far more excited to be here with you than I am even to see the new Star Wars film. In all seriousness, being a part of your church is one of the greatest blessings I have ever received and I am so glad to be here. As I have looked back over my life’s journey so far, I believe that God has been preparing me for this very opportunity.
Candy and I really appreciate everything that the church has done for us. Every need that we had has been taken care of and everyone has been so gracious and welcoming. We are overwhelmed by how much effort you have put into making our transition as easy as possible. You have truly gone the extra mile for us and we thank the Lord for your hospitality. Our family is ready to join your church in serving this community for the glory of God. You have an incredible staff and it is a magnificent blessing to now be a part of it. I hope, by the grace of God, to add to its strength. I am overjoyed to now be journeying with you in the focused direction toward which God is taking us.
In addition to an incredible staff, the youth of this church are great and I cannot wait to get to know them and become involved in what the Lord is doing in their lives. Candy and I also want to thank the youth leaders for the amazing job that they have done. Your church has given my family so much to be thankful for and we look forward to many years of showing you the same kindness and faithfulness that you have shown us.
Grace and Peace to you,
Gene Washburne
