A View from the Fields, Oct 2004

On Sunday night (September 26) Rob Norris (our Director of Missions) spoke.  Before the message, Rob presented ARBC with a certificate of recognition. 
The certificate is from the International Mission Board. It recognizes ARBC as giving the most per member to the Lottie Moon Foreign Mission Offering of any church in the Mile High Association!  We gave over $20,000 to Foreign Missions.  Congratulations ARBC!  I’m proud of you!  We did good!

“Congratulations”, “At a boys!”, “I’m proud of you!” are words or statements that make us feel good when people take the time to notice and say them to us. 

If these words are important to hear, then these words are words others are longing to hear.

It really is a simple thing to do to say, “You did good!” “I’m proud of you!” “I’m glad you are my brothers and sisters in the Lord!” “Thank you!” “You are a blessing to me!”

I suggest that we are very busy people.  I also suspect that all of us would say that people are the most important things in our lives.  So in the “busyness” I suggest we all need to take a few moments to prioritize people and appreciate those in our lives who have blessed us and/or who have accomplished certain goals.

Notice how the Apostle Paul begins his letter to the Philippians.

Let me try:

Make a visit to someone in the church and tell them how they have blessed you. Call that son or daughter and tell them how proud you are that God gave them to you. Write a note to one and tell them you like something they did and you did notice.

It will be good for you and good for them. In other words, both of you will be blessed by your efforts.
