Go Hungry for Hungary
07.30.2004

August 20, 12am-11:59pm. This day is a national holiday in Hungary. Hope for Hungary has set aside this date for specific, in-depth prayer and fasting for the unsaved people of Hungary. Also, pray for more mission workers. ARBC voted last year to support this event.

Please use this guide to help you focus on some of the specific prayer needs for Hungary:

8:00 am Begin the day asking the Father to direct your prayers throughout today. Pray that Hungarian nationals would be awakened to preach the Gospel to their countrymen [Acts 4:20].
9:00 am Pray that God would allow volunteers to connect and build relationships with spiritually receptive college students in Györ [Eph. 6:19].
10:00 am Ask for a quick language acquisition time for David and Tina Taylor, new missionaries in Western Hungary [1 Cor. 14:11-12].
11:00 am Pray that strategic believers will emerge in the city of Sapron, who will multiply by a hundredfold [Matt. 13:1-23].
12:00 pm Ask God to shake established institutions and strongholds in the town of Sárvár [Acts 17:22-31].
1:00 pm Pray that believers would overcome cultural obstacles and share their faith with boldness [1 Pet. 3:15-16].
2:00 pm Pray that God would increase in size two cell groups currently meeting in Györ [Joshua 3:5].
3:00 pm Intercede for new believers, that they would quickly catch the vision of a church planting movement within their country [2 Tim. 2:2].
4:00 pm Pray that Hungarians themselves would become the evangelists, disciplers, and church planters in the nation [Acts 9:15-16].
5:00 pm Petition the Lord for renewed zeal among the Hungarian Baptists for innovative evangelism, since joining the European Union in May 2004 [2 Cor. 15:16-20].
6:00 pm Intercede for Paul and Tena Brock, that they would have continued progress in their language study [Col. 4:3-4].
7:00 pm Ask that 35 English students who have studies English through the Bible in Sárvár would have many more opportunities to respond to the Gospel [2 Pet. 3:9].
8:00 pm As you close your day with prayer, please pray for this end vision to come about in Western Hungary:
  • an indigenous, healthy, growing, reproducing evangelical church for every town of at least 5,000 residents
  • every church would have a visionary, committed lay-leader with discipleship and leadership development for the congregation
  • at least 10% of the population in Western Hungary would be professing, born-again believers
  • every man, woman, and child would have multiple opportunities to hear and respond to the Gospel
  • the Gospel itself would begin transforming every layer of society through the ministry of these reproducing churches
  • [Matt. 28:18-20; 1 Cor. 3:5-9]
