A View from the Fields, May 2004
05.07.2004

As you read this, our Spring Bible Conference is history. Paul Burleson has been used greatly in my life to teach me some of the ways of God. I trust you were able to attend the services and God intersected your life during these days and taught you some of the ways of God. I'd like to have Paul back next Spring. We'll be talking about it. Let me know your thoughts!

In May we have two outreach events. One is Prayer Walking in the church’s neighborhood; we will do this on May 15 from 9:00am - 10:30am. I'll give you some instructions about prayerwalking and then we'll go walking. The other outreach event is putting out packets in the homes in the area we prayerwalked the week before. We'll put these packets out on May 22 from 9:00am - 10:30am. The packets will have the Gospel of Luke, a tract, a letter from the church, a piece of information about Arapahoe Road Baptist Church and some microwave popcorn. These will all be in a door hanger. All you will have to do is walk up to the door and place the packet on the doorknob.

Why are we doing these two events? Because most of the community and the church do not know we are here. I suggest over the years the church has become invisible. Another reason is to assure the community that we do care for them and want to be of service to them in any way we can. And, of course, we want to try to share the gospel through distributing the Gospel of Luke and a tract.

As I think about the month of May and look at the calendar, it is filled with special events on Sundays in the month:

  • 2nd am & pm -- Family Day with Kirk Weaver speaking

  • 9th am -- Mother's Day with Baby Dedication

  • 16th am -- Teacher Appreciation Day

  • 16th pm -- Hungarian Team Commissioning

  • 23rd am -- Graduating Senior Recognition

  • 23rd pm -- Team Meetings

  • 30th am -- Lord's Supper

Then we slide into June. Summer begins and at the end of June, the year is half over. Can you believe it? Time flies "Tempus fugit!"

Because time file, let me suggest:

  1. Prioritize your time.

  2. Take advantage of opportunities. They will not come again.

  3. Enjoy each day as a gift.

See you on the Lord's Day,

Jim
