A View from the Fields, Feb '04
02.02.2004

Beginning February 8, we will have Discipleship Training on Sunday afternoons here at ARBC. Our first cycle will begin that Sunday and run through March 28. The adults will be studying Hermeneutics. Don’t let that word scare you. (I use it to show you I’ve been to seminary! Ha!) The word refers to how to study the Bible. It’s the science of Biblical interpretation.

The man we have teaching this class is Greg Danaha who is immensely qualified. Greg is pursuing a Ph.D. from the University of Durban. Greg has taught New Testament Greek at Denver Seminary.

I want to encourage everyone to come who has an interest in Bible study. Especially, I want to encourage all Sunday School teachers to take advantage of this opportunity to further training to sharpen the axe.

The training will last from 5:15 – 6:15pm. The evening worship will begin at 6:30pm.

Greg will teach the tools needed to properly interpret a passage of Scripture. All kinds of heresy have been fostered because of poor interpretation of the Scripture.

Toward the end of February we will have another opportunity for training. February 22 (evening service) through February 25 we will have a witness training workshop. Ron Clement, the evangelism guy from the CBGC will be leading us. Sunday evening he will preach, Monday and Tuesday evening he will show us how to share our faith and then on Wednesday night during our regular bible study time he will talk to us about how to pray for the lost. I hope you will make plans to join us.

Then in March, each Tuesday night, we will go out and make visits to prospects and put into practice what we have learned.

2004 will be a year of transition at ARBC. Please extend grace as we try to maximize our efforts in reaching people for Christ and discipling the reached. We have to somehow organize our efforts to give us time to spend with family and friends and yet still fulfill the mission Jesus has for us to do. Any ideas? Please feel free to share them. We are a body. I need all of the help I can get to pull this off.

See you on the Lord’s Day.

Jim
